8 SpaceX vs. United Launch Alliance, the Billionaire Boys, and the fall of democracy as we once knew it

The SpaceX conflagration on Oct. 1 at Cape Canaveral resulted in the loss of Elon Musk’s Falcon 9 rocket that cost $62 million per flight. The satellite loss cost a staggering $200 million to the founder of Facebook and others. Presumably, those private entities insured against the loss for all or some part of the $262 million loss.

Considering the loss is a private loss, why should the Average American care.  Well, the 10-story conflagration damaged Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral.  The extent of the the loss remains unknown, but what is known is that we Americans own it. SpaceX only has a 20-year lease. Again, from the day of the explosion, nothing has been reported on the precise extent of damage and how much will it cost to fix it. That is normally an expense the Tenant (SpaceX) pays.  Right?

Until that explosion, Americans had fallen into a deep sleep.  Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week of election coverage.  White cops shooting Blacks.  Black cops shooting whites.  The last Americans heard was that our government had closed down the manned space flight program.  But with that incredible explosion recorded on thousands of video recorders, so-called experts telling us the same thing over again.  None of the Fourth Estate seems the least bit interested in covering what has happened at the Cape and most of all, WHY?

What happened?  Our government leased launch facilities to billionaires. In one case, there was no competitive bidding, none. In another, the federal agency selected three aerospace contractors to bid for the launch of a weather satellite into orbit.
